Join Erin Eggenburg for an information packed, sashiko inspired visible mending for denim workshop. Sashiko, a beautiful style of Japanese mending, is the perfect antidote to ripped and threadbare jeans. You’ll learn and practice a beautiful stitching technique for patching, as a hands-on part of this workshop. This is a great class for beginners and seasoned hand stitchers alike, with an interest in how mending can be both functional and beautiful.
This 3-hour workshop includes:
-a presentation of mending materials and how they are used in practice
-a hands-on tutorial to practice and complete a patch, in the sashiko technique
-an explanation of how to repair specific types of mends (crotch, threadbare, knees)
-an opportunity to ask questions about your specific repair

About the Instructor
Erin Eggenburg is a maker, mender, and author and instructor who resides in Portland, OR. She is the owner of wrenbirdarts, a mending supply shop and upcycled hankie business, and author of The Mending Directory. Erin teaches a variety of visible mending and embroidery classes regularly.
